DWTS Hosts Tease Something New Ahead of Season 34: 'We've Never Done This' originally appeared on Parade.

Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars debuts in September, and fans are excited to see what ABC has in store for them. According to co-hosts Julianne Houghand Alfonso Ribeiro, changes are on the way.

In a new Instagram post shared on the Dancing with the Stars page, Alfonso and Hough provided a buzzworthy teaser. The pair promised that something that has never been seen on the show before is coming this fall.

The video posted on Instagram showed both Hough and Ribeiro performing dance styles that have been customary on the long-running show.

"We've done the cha-cha," Ribeiro said.

Hough added, "We've danced the samba."

The duo went on to alternate in naming that Dancing with the Stars has also done the foxtrot, quickstep, and the jive.

Then, Hough declared, "But. We've never..." and Ribeiro continued, "...never done this."

With an eyebrow raise and a wink, the video shifted to show both Hough and Ribeiro wearing joggers and he wore a sweatshirt while she donned a sports bra.

Both did a quick dance move as a snippet of "Pump up the Jam" played, and that was the end of the teaser.

The caption read, "It's our #DWTS hosts like you've never seen before. This Monday, @therealaflonsoribeiro and @juleshough have something special coming your way to hype you up for the season premiere!"

Fans shared their thoughts on what the surprise might be.

"This sounds like a new dance style but I hope we get cast and pro reveal soon!! I need my girl Rylee back," one Instagram user commented.

Another questioned, "Are they adding hip hop as a style?"

Dancing with the Stars troupe member Stephani Sosacommented, "Screaming" and she added several positive emojis.

"I feel like a HIP HOP/freelance routine," suggested another fan.

Someone else noted, "They are the PERFECT cohosts!!! I love how much they incorporate dancing into their hosting positions. So impressive and entertaining to watch!"

On the Dancing with the Stars Reddit page, the reactions to the video teaser were more mixed.

One person suggested the teaser would mean Hough and Ribeiro are "teaching a hip hop freestyle type dance to get it trending on Tik tok until the premiere."

"To whoever is worried, you must be too young to remember this masterpiece of Lacey Schwimmer and Kyle Massey. So if it is hip hop, I'm excited," commented another fan who added a link to the Massey and Schwimmer performance she referenced.

There have been numerous hip hop freestyle dances on Dancing with the Stars over the years. However, as a weekly style, adding hip hop would be new.

As some Reddit users noted, Val Chmerkovskiy and Zendaya did hip hop during their freestyle dance, as did Daniella Karagach and Iman Shumpert. Witney Carson and Kel Mitchell included hip hop in their freestyle, and so did Hough and her partner Apolo Anton Ohno.

One fan who admitted they did not love the concept wrote, "I'm sorry but if they do end up adding Hip Hop... what a way to commemorate the show's legacy on it's 20th anniversary, especially cconsidering how the show started out as a strict ballroom competition."

Is there a new dance style being added to the weekly mix in Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars, or is the tease referring to something like a one-off performance? It sounds like fans will get more information soon and Season 34 debuts on September 16.
