Blake Lively is set to star in the romantic comedy “The Survival List.”
Described as an “action romantic comedy,” the film follows a highbrow reality TV producer named Annie who is assigned against her wishes to a new show hosted by famous survival expert Chopper Lane. When a shipwreck strands them on a deserted island, Annie discovers Chopper is a fraud and knows nothing about survival, leaving her in charge of figuring out how to keep them alive. Forced to work together, they begin to discover an unlikely chemistry. The role of Chopper Lane has yet to be cast.

Lionsgate, who worked with the actress on “A Simple Favor,” bought the spec script from writer Tom Melia (“Rye Lane”). Marc Platt, best known for “Wicked” and “La La Land,” is in talks to join Lively as a producer on the film. Scott O’Brien will oversee the project for Lionsgate.
“The Survival List” is Lively’s first theatrical film since “It Ends With Us,” which became a sleeper hit with $351 million at the global box office. Overshadowing the movie’s financial success, however, has been a series of legal battles surrounding Lively and her director/ co-star Justin Baldoni. Lively is suing Baldoni in federal court for sexual harassment and retaliation, alleging the director and producers of “It Ends With Us” launched a smear campaign against her after she complained about the conditions on the film’s set. Meanwhile, Baldoni’s defamation suit against Lively was dismissed.
